Week 6 Day 3; Buddhism; Ambattha Sutta 2:9

"Or did they live, as their food, on boiled rice of the best sorts, from which all the black specks had been sought out and removed, and flavoured with sauces and curries of various kinds, as you, and your teacher too, do now?" (Ambattha Sutta 2:9, from the Digha Nikaya of Buddhism).
The Buddha demonstrates to a contemporary critic the eventual divide that emerges between the austere lifestyle of the ancient Rishis (the writers of the Vedas) and the then contemporary comfortable lifestyle of the religious inheritors of the Rishis, the Brahmin householders. In what ways does your contemporary lifestyle coincide with the lifestyle of your ancient ancestors?
Love And Peace.
