Week 8 Day 2; Buddhism; Kutadanta Sutta

" 'But perchance his majesty might think: 'I'll soon put a stop to these scoundrels' game by degradation and banishment, and fines and bonds and death!' But their license cannot be satisfactorily put a stop to so. The remnant left unpunished would still go on harassing the (Realm).' " (Kutadanta Sutta, from the Digha Nikaya of Buddhism).
It can be easy to immediately respond to a transgression with a reactionary transgression; but it is increasingly favourable to respond to a transgression with intelligence, understanding, and resolve for resolution and reconciliation. How do you progress beyond the immediate instinct to respond with hostility, and instead, respond with intelligence and even compassion?
Love And Peace.
