"Said he, 'Your name shall no longer be (Yaakov), but Israel, for you have striven with beings divine and human, and have prevailed." (Beresheit 32:29, from the Torah of Judaism).
After liberating himself from his far-in-law's house and preparing to be reconciled with this brother, Yaakov experiences a spiritual transformation when he wrestles with the Angel; and he receives a new name based upon this transformation.
