"I will henceforth be one of those who live only on fruits that have fallen of themselves." (Ambattha Sutta 2:3, from the Digha Nikaya of Buddhism).
The Buddha describes a proclamation of discipline made by spiritual aspirants who are unable to lead the austere life of full asceticism. Do you ever make a proclamation of righteousness/Holiness that restricts or compels your actions?
