Week 8 Day 3; Buddhism; Kutadanta Sutta 10

"Now when King Wide-(Realm) was once sitting alone in meditation he became anxious at the thought: 'I have in abundance all the (benevolent) things a mortal can enjoy. The whole wide circle of the earth is mine by conquest to possess. 'Twere well if I were to offer a great sacrifice that should ensure me weal and welfare for many days." (Kutadanta Sutta 10, from the Digha Nikaya of Buddhism).
When we are experiencing a windfall of material wealth, what is it that compels us to provide a portion of that material wealth as an offering (usually in a manner that is contrary to how we amass the material wealth)?
Love And Peace.
